Islip High School Incident - March 26th

Prior to the start of the school day, Islip High School received information of a potential threat in the building. Information of this type immediately results in the activation of our emergency building safety protocols. These protocols included the reporting to the Suffolk County Police Department, who then responded, resulting in a police presence on campus. The administration needed to activate a brief "Lock Out," and a "Hold-In-Place" for approximately 25 minutes.

It was determined very quickly that there was no imminent threat or danger to any students or staff. There were never any weapons involved or brought into school. Suffolk County Police Department needed to conduct their preliminary investigation and remained on campus until they concluded. All students returned to their regularly scheduled classes in the middle of period 2.

We are thankful for all the support and assistance during this situation. The Islip School District takes every report seriously. As always, the health and safety of our students and faculty are our top priorities.
