The Fine and Performing Arts Department in the Islip School District is proud to announce that out of the thousands of students who auditioned for the All-County festival this year, ten Islip High School student-musicians have been accepted to perform in the prestigious festival.

The Suffolk Chapter of the New York State Council of Administrators of Music Education (NYSCAME) will hold its annual All-County Festival at Half Hollow Hills High School on November 19, 2010. The finest high school musicians in Suffolk County have been selected to perform in choral, orchestral and band ensembles under the leadership of skilled guest conductors. After many hours of rehearsals, these students will perform a concert of highly challenging pieces at a level approaching, if not equal, to that of professional ensembles.

“In a county as large as Suffolk, All-County selections are highly competitive. On the secondary level, students are selected by virtue of the score they received at the NYSSMA Solo Festival held the previous spring, which must be among the highest in the county,” stated Vincent Green, Director of Fine and Performing Arts.

Islip High School is proud to be represented by:

Tara Duer - Mallets (Band)
Rebecca Goess - Alto (Chorus)
