¡No olvides votar el martes 21 de mayo!

La Votación del Presupuesto Anual y la Elección de la Junta de Educación se llevarán a cabo el martes 21 de mayo de 2024 en el gimnasio de la Escuela Secundaria Islip. Las urnas estarán abiertas de 6:00 a 17:00. Se les pide a los votantes que consideren el presupuesto propuesto para el año escolar 2024-2025 y elijan a tres miembros para la Junta de Educación.

La Junta de Educación llevará cabo una breve reunión después del cierre de las urnas, comenzando aproximadamente a las 17:30 en el Salón Comunitario de la escuela secundaria. La agenda de la reunión estará disponible al público al menos 48 horas antes de la reunión a través de BoardDocs en el sitio web del Distrito. Sin embargo, tenga en cuenta que debido a la hora de inicio tardía, est reunión no te transmitirá en vivo.

Don't forget to vote on Tuesday, May 21st!

The Annual Budget Vote and Board of Education Election will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 in the Islip High School gymnasium. The polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Voters are being asked to consider the proposed budget for the 2024-2025 school year and elect three members to the Board of Education.

The Board of Education will hold a brief meeting after the polls close, starting at approximately 9:30 p.m. in the Community Room at the high school. The agenda for the meeting will be available to the public at least 48 hours before the meeting through BoardDocs on the District website. Please note, however, that due to the late start time, this meeting will not be live streamed.

Islip High School hosted the school’s first Choose to Include day on April 18, held in conjunction with Autism Awareness Month and the Special Olympics. Choose to Include is a Special Olympics movement that fosters awareness of differences and celebrates inclusivity through sports and beyond; Islip High School now has both Unified bowling and Unified basketball teams.

Islip’s Choose to Include fair, held in the student lounge and organized by teacher Melissa Horn and her functional academics students, brought awareness to a multitude of disabilities. Students and staff participated in challenges and simulations of these disabilities while attempting to complete everyday tasks.  

The event also included a fundraiser to support a scholarship for a special needs student in honor of one of Horn’s students who passed away this school year.
