Seven students in Islip High School’s Women in Science & Engineering (WISE) program participated in Stony Brook University’s spring semester by taking a course in computer coding. Using Python coding language, two groups of Islip sophomores and juniors worked to produce a choose-you-own-adventure text chatbot. Islip students Tiana Arroyo Juliana Conlon, Thalia Elie, Katerina Mennecke, Malik Nayab, Kaitlyn Riordan and Jadyn Zink were instructed by Stony Brook graduate student Darya Stepanenko. The interactive games were presented at Stony Brook's WISE Symposium and Awards Dinner on May 3.
