Sixth graders at Islip Middle School recently used newspapers to find pictures or words which they then categorized into the five fields of learning social studies: geography, economics, government, culture and history.

“My students had a great time and realized that the five fields are a part of their everyday lives,” teacher Tracy Apicella said.
