Islip Middle School brought down the house this week with its energetic and colorful production of Disney’s Descendants, showcasing the tremendous talent, dedication, and teamwork of its student performers and backstage crew.

The show was guided by a dynamic creative and production team led by Jessy Gill, Sheila Montuori, and Joelle Parent, who worked tirelessly to bring the beloved story to life on the Islip stage. Gill and Parent also served as the production’s choreographers, crafting the upbeat dance numbers that kept the audience fully engaged from start to finish.

Under the musical leadership of Vocal Director Rose Champion, the cast delivered powerful vocal performances that highlighted the students’ growth, confidence, and musical range. Set Designer Brian Bartheld transformed the stage into Auradon and the Isle with imaginative pieces that enhanced the show’s magic. Lighting Designer Russ Brown created an atmosphere that perfectly matched each scene’s tone and energy.

The backstage elements were equally impressive thanks to a skilled technical team. Mariella Esposito and Finley Henning operated spotlights, while Megan Dwyer and Emma Massa managed Sound. The lighting was expertly run by Bella Feldman, ensuring each performance hit every cue with professionalism.

A dedicated group of Stage Crew Managers—Christelle Bazile, Isabella Schmalacker, and Valerie Machado—helped coordinate the behind-the-scenes operations, leading a full Stage Crew that included Elizabeth Balsamo, Mila Ferazzoli, Maisie Howe, Layla Lazaro, Kathleen Ortiz, Chloe Ward, and Joseph Zarchy. Their work kept scene changes smooth, props organized, and the production running seamlessly. Additional thanks go to Helpers Gabriella Gimeli and Isabella Tuorto, who supported essential tasks throughout the performances.

From the opening number to the final bow, Descendants at Islip Middle School was a celebration of student creativity, collaboration, and school spirit.
