SantaStudents from the Islip High School Business Leadership Club and Chick-fil-A Leader Academy combined leadership, service, and holiday spirit this past Sunday by hosting a successful Pancake Breakfast with Santa fundraiser in support of the Islip American Legion Rusy Bohm Post 411 Building Renovation Project.

Held on a snowy December morning, the event welcomed approximately 100 community members to the American Legion hall. Families enjoyed a full pancake breakfast prepared by local veterans, reinforcing the partnership between students and the veterans they were supporting through the fundraiser.

In addition to breakfast, children participated in holiday-themed games and activities, wrote letters to Santa that were mailed through a special mailbox, and received goody bags. Ms. Vicky Pizzo provided face painting for children and adults alike, while Youth Enrichment Services hosted an activity and resource table for families.

The highlight of the morning was a visit from Santa Claus, who spent time with each family. Attendees could take photos with Santa and leave with keepsake photos to commemorate the event.

The fundraiser also featured a raffle with 22 baskets donated by local supporters, further contributing to the event’s success. Through ticket sales, raffles, and community donations, the students raised $3,700 to support renovations at the Islip American Legion Post.

Advisors Ms. Clock, Ms. Kinalis, and Dr. Drysielski praised the students for their dedication and leadership, noting that the event showcased the power of student-driven service learning and community collaboration. The students expressed their gratitude to everyone who attended, volunteered, and donated, emphasizing that the strong turnout and generosity of the Islip community made the morning memorable and impactful.

The Pancake Breakfast with Santa served as both a festive holiday celebration and a meaningful opportunity for students to give back, strengthening ties between Islip High School and the veterans who continue to serve the community.
