Buccaneer University Mentors Help IMS Students Prepare for High School Transition

The Buccaneer University Peer Mentors visited middle school advisories to help introduce students to life at the high school.
As the first step in the transition process, peer mentors led a variety of engaging activities, including a human scavenger hunt, playing a video created by the Video Production program that introduced some students and staff members, and an interactive question-and-answer session focused on students’ “burning” high school questions.
The peer mentors will reconnect with the students at freshman orientation to continue building relationships and support a smooth transition to high school.
Nicole Hall, advisor to the Buccaneer University Peer Mentoring Program, shared that the students had been trained as peer mentors and were excited to meet the Class of 2030.
“They are always professional, inclusive, and enthusiastic,” Hall said.
Although the rain forced the cancellation of the planned turf activities in the afternoon, the group looks forward to bringing those games back next year.
