Dear Islip Parents and Guardians:

Each year when the District team creates the school calendar, we are mindful of the fact that inclement weather could necessitate the closing of schools for the safety of our students and staff. As such, we build snow "make up" days into the calendar to prevent an extension of the school year to meet State attendance regulations.

While winter this year was certainly frigid, we were fortunate to have escaped with relatively little snow, necessitating only one delayed opening. This means we are able to "give back" the two built in make up days included in our calendar.

Therefore, there will be no school on Friday, May 23rd and Tuesday, May 27th. Please make any necessary childcare arrangements for these two days. We hope  you and your family are able to enjoy the extra-long weekend.

Sincerely,Dennis P. O'Hara, Ed.D.Superintendent of Schools
