On behalf of my fellow board members, I welcome you to the Islip Public Schools. This website contains useful information for parents, students, and community members. It will be a powerful source of current information during the school year. You are encouraged to visit often and share your questions or concerns through our e-mail link.
During the summer months, we structured a vision and began establishing the goals for the year. We continue to gather input at our meetings, through Community Forums, and most recently meeting with High School students. We look forward to hearing from you through our e-mail link or at our meetings. Please join us in working together to provide the highest quality education and opportunities for all our children.
The following information was presented at Community Forum I and represents the common threads of the vision of all stakeholders of the Islip Schools/Community:
Stakeholders' Vision Themes
Foundation - provides sustained professional development and will empower long-life learning
Culture - safe, open, collaborative, creative, nurturing and supportive
Curriculum - enriched, equitable, challenging, targeting early intervention and alternate opportunities
Respect - for diverse learning/teaching styles, equal opportunities and alternate extracurricular activities
Student-Demonstrated Outcomes - learning growth, life skills, respect, character, and healthy wellness choices.
Commitment - to consistent rules, measuring and celebrating success by using data-driven decisions, incorporating technology, being fiscally responsible, and communicating to all.
